In fairness, TeamViewer QuickSupport is a good way to assist users with their PC troubles or just as a basic remote computing tool but it's been used far too often by unscrupulous companies in overseas call centers. Users should never provide access to their systems from unknown users calling you or by anybody that claims to be from Microsoft or some technical support company. The usual way the scam works is the agent will connect to a PC and convince the victim that the computer is infected with a virus, the 'network is compromised' or other such malarkey. TeamViewer applications are often used by so-called tech support scammers to gain access to a user's computer. Some of the functionality included with TeamViewer QuickSupport include providing remote access to a desktop, transfer files between the host and the client, audio calling, text chat and remote computing with Android devices. Once you give these login credentials to somebody, they can request remote access to your computer's desktop.Īs a portable program, installation is not required so just running the application after downloading is sufficient to activate the functionality on your PC. Since **Third Party Product** is already paid for and does allow desktop sharing, there is no real need to pay extra for TeamViewer. Our support staff is swtiching more and more to ad-hoc **Third Party Product** meetings for standard user support. But the effort to maintain such a completely unsupported environment is huge and would not be necessary if TeamViewer would offer a native 64bit Host or QuickSupport client. I did manage to hack TeamViewer 5 and the required 32bit support into a WinPE 1809 圆4 image though and suprisingly it works. But most of our users are on the road most of the time and connected to home/hotel/client networks that do not allow direct IP access. VNC would be fine (and was actually fine for years) if everybody would be in a LAN/WAN connected office.
The only reason for us to use TeamViewer is to remote desktop to machines that are connected to NATed networks.
